WASHINGTON, June 19 (UPI) -- Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., said Saturday that the American Jobs Plan would keep United States competitive by creating the jobs of the future.
"This week, the U.S. Congress took a vote that is very important to Latino workers and our families," Grijalva said during the Hispanic radio address. "This bold economic agenda would end tax loopholes that reward companies that export jobs overseas."
The Democratic plan is committed to assuring that every American student has the opportunity and training to pursue the career of their dreams, Grijalva said.
"Democrats want to make college more accessible by doubling Pell Grants to $11,600 by 2011 and we want to improve education in our high schools, to help more Latino children attend college," he said.
"Our plan would give priority in government contracts to companies that invest in American jobs, revitalize our manufacturing base by cutting taxes for U.S. companies, including small businesses and farms, in order to keep good-paying manufacturing jobs here at home."
