Barr's defamation suit dismissed

WASHINGTON, June 15 (UPI) -- A federal appeals court dismissed former Congressman Bob Barr's $30 million defamation suit against former President Bill Clinton, Larry Flynt and others.

Barr filed suit against Clinton, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Democratic strategist James Carville for conspiring to publish allegations of marital infidelity and other information about him as payback for his involvement in Clinton's impeachment, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit determined Monday that Flynt did not publish offensive information he knew to be false and also ruled Barr failed to file his suit within the three-year statute of limitations.
