Son of Sam has own blog

NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- Son of Sam David Berkowitz has set up a Web site on which the New York killer expounds on various topics to the chagrin of those whose lives he shattered.

"This should be stopped," Michael Lauria, whose 18-year-old daughter, Donna, was murdered by Berkowitz in 1976, told the New York Daily News.

"He's telling the world: 'Ha, ha! I'm in jail and I got a Web site,'" Lauria said.

Officials at Sullivan Correctional Facility said, however, the 51-year-old serial killer, who is serving 25 years to life, is not breaking any rules with his cyberjournal, forgivenforlife.com Web site. They say it's merely an extension of the traditional letters prisoners have always sent older media.

Berkowitz was convicted of killing six people and wounding seven in a rampage that terrorized New York in the mid-1970s. He originally claimed a neighbor's dog told him to do it but in recent years has admitted he made that up.

"If I were the warden, he wouldn't be allowed to do anything," said Neysa Moskowitz, mother of victim Stacy Moskowitz. "Let him break rocks, or whatever they do there.

"They treat him like a little prince," the 71-year-old cancer survivor said.
