Avalanche in India kills five policemen

CALCUTTA, India, June 11 (UPI) -- Recovery workers have found the body of one of five Indian policemen killed by an avalanche in the Himalayas of northern India, the BBC reported Friday.

The five policemen were part of a group of 14 officers, all trained as mountaineers, who were returning from a trek on Sunderdunga Glacier in Uttaranchal state when the incident occurred.

Two officers were injured in the avalanche.

The body of one of the five dead has been recovered, officials said. The search for the bodies of the other four victims was continuing.
