Old Navy children's outerwear is recalled

WASHINGTON, June 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday that Old Navy is voluntarily recalling children's zippered outerwear.

The plastic zipper pull can detach from the zipper, posing a choking hazard to young children. Old Navy has received 13 reports of the zipper pulls detaching, including one report of a child mouthing the object, but no injuries have been reported.

The recall involves children's outerwear garments with a clear, oval-shaped zipper pull. The garments were sold in sizes 6 months to 4T -- 210209 fur trim coat, 210210 half-zip mock neck fleece pullover, 210211 half-zip mock neck fleece pullover, floral, 210212 half-zip mock neck fleece pullover, 210672 frost free jacket, 210673 quilted fur coat and 210228 fleece jumper hooded. Style numbers are printed on a white label sewn into the garment under the garment-care tag.

Old Navy stores and oldnavy.com nationwide sold 660,000 items of the recalled outerwear from November 2003 through May 2004 from between $14 and $34.

Customers are advised to return the garments to any Old Navy store for a refund and a $5 appreciation card.
