Wanted by law, dad gets time to grieve

LARGO, Fla., June 3 (UPI) -- Florida authorities gave Kevin Wolfe time to grieve over the death of his 2-year-old daughter, then arrested him for violating probation.

Summer Wolfe died May 22 after she was run over by the family car, which her father had allowed a 12-year-old boy to drive. The boy was not charged.

Wolfe, 30, told the St. Petersburg Times he feared sheriff's deputies would grab him when he arrived at the Largo church Wednesday for his daughter's funeral. But, none came and he joined his wife, their three children and friends for the service.

"We're not that coldhearted," a sheriff's spokesman said.

Wolfe, as promised, turned himself in to face a charge he smoked marijuana after his daughter's death, a violation of his probation.
