Oregon Iraq vet jailed for killing wife

VANCOUVER, Wash., June 2 (UPI) -- An Oregon man was facing a murder charge Wednesday for allegedly murdering his wife and stashing her body in a footlocker in rural Washington state.

KATU-TV, Portland, said Matthew Denni was arrested during the weekend for allegedly shooting his wife, Kim, and concealing her body in a footlocker stashed in a van in Battle Ground, about 10 miles from Vancouver.

Police said Kim Denni disappeared two months ago, not long after the suspect returned from duty in Iraq with an Oregon Army reserve engineer unit.

Authorities said there was no evidence stress brought on by Denni's military experience contributed to the killing, although there were indications the couple's marriage was troubled.
