JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 28 (UPI) -- A wildfire jumped containment lines near Jacksonville, Fla., Friday and fire officials feared the dry weather could fuel more blazes throughout the state.
Forestry officials said the 1,500-acre blaze in Baker County was only 10 percent contained, WJAX-TV, Jacksonville, reported.
"Potential for it to get out is always there when you have these conditions," said Todd Brown of the Division of Forestry.
"We'll probably be on pins and needles for awhile now, until we get some weather changes," he said.
Two other fires were reported in central Florida near Sanford this week, temporarily closing two major highways.
Conditions were particularly dangerous in northeast Florida where the relative humidity was below 35 percent and west to northwesterly winds gusted up to 25 mph.
There has been no rain in the area for more than three weeks. Arson was considered a possibility in the Clay County fire.
