Arizona Republicans targeted for immigration vote

WASHINGTON, May 25 (UPI) -- Anti-immigration conservatives have blasted some Arizona Republican congressmen for voting against a bill requiring hospitals to report illegal aliens.

The Business Journal of Phoenix reported U.S. Reps. Jeff Flake, Jim Kolbe, Rick Renzi, and John Shadegg were criticized by the Protect Arizona Now coalition for voting against the measure that fell in the House on May 18.

The conservative group is trying to get a proposition on the state ballot in November barring illegal aliens from receiving welfare and social service benefits from the state.

It remains to be seen if Protect Arizona's condemnation will impact Flake, Kolbe and Renzi's re-election campaigns.
