Saudi plane crash accidental

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, May 16 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia said Sunday the crash of a military plane during an air show rehearsal, in which the pilot was killed Saturday, was an accident.

The official Saudi Ukaz daily quoted Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khaled bin Sultan as saying the Hawk, a one-man aircraft, crashed into the ground in Tabouk in northern Saudi Arabia during training.

He said it was the first accident since the formation of the Air Force Falcons eight years ago, adding that the pilot was flying his plane too close to the ground when it crashed.

The Defense Ministry had said Saturday a small Royal Air Force aircraft crashed at the King Faisal base during training, killing its pilot and destroying the plane.
