Kirkuk blast kills 4

BAGHDAD, May 11 (UPI) -- At least four people were killed and 22 hurt Tuesday in an attack on the northern Iraqi town of Kirkuk.

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan satellite TV quoted Kirkuk Police Department officials as saying "terrorist groups, bands and their supporters were behind the attack."

The bomb was left near an old mosque in the Kurdish part of the ethnically divided city.

It marked the first major attack in Kurdish areas of Iraq. A special police team was assigned to investigate the bombing.

Another blast in the country's oil center injured two people along the road to a theme park, officials said.
