GAZA, May 10 (UPI) -- A top Palestinian security official said Monday the United States, Israel and Egypt have been talking about Israel's plans for pulling out of Gaza.
Jibril Rajoub, national security advisor to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, said he understands Egypt is prepared to train Palestinian police forces to be ready to move in -- if and when Israel closes settlements and leave.
Rajoub declined to give reporters details about the trilateral contacts, but he said Egypt has its own concerns about the plan proposed by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, but rejected by members of his Likud party.
"The contacts are to determine Israel's next step and the nature of the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the affect of this withdrawal on both Egypt and the Palestinians," said Rajoub.
He said that he met recently with Egypt's chief of intelligence security Omer Suleiman, who is scheduled to visit Ramallah, Arafat's headquarters, early next week.
