SAN DIEGO, May 1 (UPI) -- Eleven-year-old Pooja Magavi has won the title of Most Philosophical Sixth-Grader in America for her essay in war and peace.

The Minnesota-based Kids Philosophy Slam asked students to write on "War or peace? Is world peace possible or does human nature make war inevitable?"

Magavi said peace is possible, but elusive, and what is necessary to achieve it.

"We could begin by leaving behind our shelters of security and acknowledging the importance of diversity in culture, religion, belief and lifestyle," she wrote.

About 5,000 submissions were entered in the competition from kindergarten through 12th-grade students across America and from other countries.

Each grade was awarded a winner.
