OSLO, Norway, April 30 (UPI) -- Oslo, Norway, is now so full of cockroaches that the city expects to spend $73,000 this year to fight the pests, Aftenposten reported Friday.
"The worst I have seen was an apartment with over 10,000 cockroaches. The floor was covered and we literally had to walk over them," said exterminator Morten Raastad.

Municipal properties often have a higher incidence of infestation than private residences since they change hands more often.
Cockroaches are also a city and apartment block phenomenon, spreading quickly from apartment to apartment.
The $73,000 figure is nearly 10 times what was spent on fighting cockroaches in 2001, officials said.
