China wants citizens to study Marxism

BEIJING, April 28 (UPI) -- State President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Hu Jintao has called for the study of Marxist Theory.

Hu met Wednesday with a central working conference on implementation of the project of studying and building Marxist Theory, China's government-run Xinhua News Service reported. The project has been launched as China is facing new tasks, situations, and problems in reform and development, Hu said.

Hu spoke highly of ideological workers in China who have contributed to studying major theoretical and practical issues, with Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the thought of the "Three Represents" as guidance, Xinhua said.
