
WASHINGTON, April 27 (UPI) -- U.S. senators and members of the Indian American community will gather at the Capitol Thursday to inaugurate the first India caucus at the Senate.
Thirty senators have joined the caucus, a statement issued Tuesday by the U.S. India Political Action Committee said.
The caucus will "promote ties between the United States and India and focus on the concerns of the rapidly growing Indian-American community," the statement said.
The USINPAC is a bipartisan committee representing the interests of Indian-Americans at all levels of the U.S. government.
The speakers will include Lalit Mansingh, India's ambassador to the United States, Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, caucus co-chairs, and Sens. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and Jon Corzine, D-N.J.
