CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 27 (UPI) -- A 70-page report released to Harvard University's faculty has recommended changing the curriculum to include more science and some study abroad.
It also recommends more personal contact with professors, the Boston Globe reported.
Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers said he supports the report. He has spoken in favor of more science and more global awareness for years.
The faculty will discuss the report next week and a vote will be held next year.
William Kirby, dean of the faculty of arts and sciences, said most of the changes could be made in two or three years.
"We are making a conscious effort to step back from specialization and fragmentation to make sure we give an education that is broad and deep and permits students to be educated across a range of areas of knowledge," Kirby said.
