Priest charged in nun's murder

TOLEDO, April 24 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio have charged a Catholic priest with the 1980 stabbing death of a nun, Capital News 9 Albany reported Saturday.

Reverend Gerald Robinson was arrested Friday night. Police said he was always a suspect, but they never had enough evidence to arrest him until the case was reopened about five months ago.

Robinson even performed the funeral of Sister Margaret Ann Pahl, 71, who was stabbed 30 times and strangled. Her body was found in the chapel of a Toledo hospital where she was the caretaker. Robinson, who is now 63, had worked as a chaplain.

Police said "new technology" led to Robinson's arrest. But they wouldn't elaborate about evidence or a motive. They started up the cold case based on a tip.
