Congressman caught with gun at airport

WASHINGTON, April 20 (UPI) -- Indiana Congressman John Hostettler was briefly detained at a Kentucky airport when a search turned up a loaded Glock pistol in his bag.

Hostettler, who was returning to Washington on a flight from Louisville International Airport, forgot he had the gun with him, his spokesman, Michael Jahr, told CNN. Jahr was allowed to take a different flight after brief questioning by Transportation Security Administration officials.

Jahr said that Hostettler never brings the gun to Washington and may have packed the wrong bag after a heavy schedule of local events in his district.

The Republican is seeking a sixth term in Congress.
