BEIRUT, Lebanon, April 18 (UPI) -- Palestinian refugees in Lebanon took to the streets of their camps Sunday to condemn the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi.
Thousands of Palestinians held a mock funeral procession for Rantisi, the head of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, better known as Hamas. He was killed Saturday by Israeli helicopter gunfire in Gaza.
A massive march in the Ain al-Hilweh camp near the southern Lebanese port city of Tyre, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the country, was led by gunmen from Hamas and other Palestinian factions.
Angry protesters chanted slogans against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President George W. Bush, and carried banners reading: "Death to Sharon," and "Sharon and Bush are the same face of the coin."
Another banner vowed: "We will blow ourselves up at the American and Israeli embassies across the world."
They promised to avenge the killing of Rantisi by striking American and Israeli targets.
