China citiy normal after chlorine leak

CHONGQING, China, April 17 (UPI) -- Many of the 150,000 people evacuated in China's Chongqing municipality were returning to their homes Saturday after a Thursday chlorine plant explosion.

Firemen were still spraying sodium hydroxide liquid Saturday to neutralize the chlorine gas emitted after the explosion at the Tianyuan Chemical Co. plant that killed nine people, reported Xinhua, China's main government-run news agency.

Officials told Xinhua the city's air quality had returned to normal levels by Saturday morning and drinking water was safe.
