Prosecution seeks summons for Sharon's son

TEL AVIV, Israel, April 14 (UPI) -- A prosecutor Wednesday asked judges to summon the Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's son to explain why he hasn't provided documents he was ordered to cede.

The documents are expected to shed light on suspected bribery. State Attorney Edna Arbel has recommended criminal charges against Sharon for his involvement in a real estate developer's attempts to build a multi-million dollar resort on a Greek island.

The developer paid Sharon's son, Gilad, hundreds of thousands of dollars and promised more if the deal went through. Gilad's work did not justify such pay, the prosecution contends.

A second case involves the transfers to Sharon, of some $1.5 million that helped him return illegal contributions for his campaign in the party primaries.

Gilad Sharon lives on the family's farm with the prime minister, and the premises cannot be searched. The Supreme Court ordered Gilad to hand over the papers.
