Malaysia, Thailand to combat terrorism

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 13 (UPI) -- Malaysia and Thailand have agreed to jointly combat terrorism including groups which are causing instability and problem in both countries.

Following a meeting between the countries' two prime ministers, Malaysia Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the two countries agreed to exchange intelligence and information to fight the menace.

The meeting, among others, touched on the spate of violence in the southern region of Thailand, Bernama agency reports.

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was earlier reported as saying dual citizenship (Malay-Thai) enabled some of the terrorists to slip into Malaysia but later said his statements were misinterpreted.
