Bomb threat delays French trains

PARIS, April 8 (UPI) -- Police in Paris halted traffic on a commuter train line for an hour Thursday after the United States warned French officials of a possible bomb attack.

The RER-A line trains were stopped and passengers were evacuated while officials conducted inspections of the rails and stations, CNN reported Thursday.

Paris police said the CIA raised an alert to a threat of bomb attacks directed at the underground train lines or the Metro subway system.

French authorities have been on high alert regarding the security of its trains and subways since the fatal March 11 bomb attacks on four trains in Madrid, Spain, that claimed 190 lives.

France has also been the target of threats against its rail system by a terrorist group that calls itself AZF.

A bomb claimed by that group was found partly buried on a rail line in north-central France on March 24.
