The Spanish Interior Ministry made the announcement and provided photographs of the suspects.

The last names of some of the suspects match those of others already under arrest for alleged links to the attacks on four commuter trains that killed 191 people, the Spanish news agency EFE said Thursday.

Oulad Akcha, for instance, is a last name shared by Naima, the only woman detained so far, and Khalid, who was released in the case after giving a statement but was then remanded to jail for other crimes.

Spain has made 23 arrests in the investigation so far.

In other developments, hard-line anti-terror Judge Juan del Olmo ordered Antonio Toro Castro into solitary confinement until Friday. The Spaniard is the brother-in-law of former miner Jose Emilio Suarez, who has been charged with supplying the explosives used in the bombings.
