Poll: Two-thirds say Rowland should resign

HARTFORD, Conn., March 30 (UPI) -- Just under two-thirds of those surveyed in the latest UConn poll say embattled Connecticut Gov. John Rowland should resign.

Of the 600 adults surveyed, 65 percent said Rowland, who is the subject of an investigation by a special state legislative committee of inquiry, should resign from office, "As of now." Just 28 percent said he should continue to serve as governor.

Rowland, a Republican, is under fire for allegedly helping to steer state contracts to people who gave him gifts.

The survey, which was conducted from March 24 to March 29, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
