NEW DELHI, March 19 (UPI) -- India Friday test fired an update version of its Prithvi medium-range surface-to-surface missile from the Chandipur test range in eastern India.
Prithvi, or Earth, has a range of up to 120 miles. The 8.5-meter missile can cover a distance of 90 miles in five minutes.
The latest version of the missile was developed by the Indian Air Force and is believed to have greater accuracy.
India had informed neighboring Pakistan ahead of the Friday test as part of a bilateral agreement.
Islamabad had test fired its Shaheen 2 missile on March 9.
India's missile arsenal includes intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni, the surface-to-air missile Akash, the naval surface-to-air missile Trishul and the anti-tank missile Nag and supersonic Brahmos.
