Jordan FM praises deal with Israel

WASHINGTON, March 9 (UPI) -- Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said Tuesday his country was going ahead with plans for scientific cooperation with Israel.

Israel and Jordan planned to break ground Tuesday on a science center that would eventually become a campus for students from both nations. The center is backed by Stanford and other U.S. universities.

"The fact that we are doing this does not mean that we don't have political differences with Israel," he said. "We do ... But I think it is also important to advance other areas of cooperation where (there is) need, and this is one of them."
