Rockets strike U.S. headquarters area

BAGHDAD, March 8 (UPI) -- Eight rockets fired from a vehicle just outside the headquarters of the U.S. occupation forces in Iraq wounded one American.

A vehicle was observed on the road outside the Iraqi Foreign Ministry building before it began firing the rockets into the Coalition Provisional Authority compound in Baghdad late Sunday.

After U.S. troops responded with small arms fire, the truck exploded, apparently because it had a bomb rigged inside to explode after the rockets were fired.

There are no details on the hurt American, but fires could be seen within the compound from the rocket strikes.
