NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich., March 8 (UPI) -- A Michigan barn and several animals belonging to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan have been destroyed by fire.

The Sunday evening blaze occurred at Farrakhan's New Buffalo Township property, located at the southwestern tip of the state. The fire killed seven horses, nine dogs and six sheep, CNN reported.

The barn was described as a total loss, but firefighters said they saved a maintenance shed and other buildings that were some distance from the barn.
