DETROIT, March 8 (UPI) -- The father of slain child beauty queen Jon Benet Ramsey may make a run for the Michigan Legislature, the Detroit Free Press said Monday.
The wealthy businessman has never been implicated in the unsolved 1996 slaying of his 6-year-old daughter in a case that became grist for tabloid news. The Ramseys moved from Colorado to Atlanta in 1997 and have a vacation home in Charlevoix, Mich.
The newsletter Inside Michigan Politics said Ramsey was considering seeking the House seat being vacated by Republican state Rep. Ken Bradstreet, who is term limited. The deadline for filing is May 11.
The Free Press said Ramsey has a Michigan driver's license and is registered to vote in Michigan.
Ramsey filed a $12 million lawsuit in Atlanta against Fox News Network last year for defamation in reporting about his daughter's death.
