DOD awards $300 million in fuel contracts

WASHINGTON, March 8 (UPI) -- The Pentagon Monday announced approval of seven new fuel contracts for Iraq worth more than $300 million, with all but one contract going to Turkish firms.

Refinery Associates of Texas Inc., New Braunfels, Texas, was awarded a $108.5 million contract for diesel fuel and gasoline for Iraq.

Turcas Petrol A.S., Istanbul, Turkey, won a $59.2 million contract; Opet petrolcul U.K. A.S., Istanbul, Turkey, won a $55.1 million contract for gasoline;. Petrol Ofisi A.S., Istanbul, Turkey, was awarded a $35.3 million contract for diesel fuel; Delta Petrol Urunleri Ticaret A.S., Istanbul, Turkey, received an $18.2 million contract for liquefied petroleum gas; Iprgaz A.S., Istanbul, Turkey, won a $17.3 million for liquefied petroleum gas; and the Tefirom Construction & Energy Co. Ltd. of Ankara, Turkey, won a $15.8 million contract for liquefied petroleum gas.
