GAZA, March 7 (UPI) -- A Palestinian spokesman said Sunday the Palestinians will call for a U.N. Security Council meeting to discuss Israeli militarism in Gaza.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a top aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, told reporters an urgent meeting would be requested to discuss "Israeli Army massacres" following an Israeli incursion into central Gaza that killed about 14 people.
He said the Palestinian leadership would join with leaders of Arab countries and non-aligned nations in asking the Security Council to impose sanctions on Israel.
"This series of Israeli aggressions is aimed not only at foiling peace efforts, but also at dragging the whole region into great danger by constructing the separation wall and carrying out killings," Abu Rudeineh said.
