Indians throng Pakistan embassy for visa

NEW DELHI, March 3 (UPI) -- Hundreds of Indian cricket fans Wednesday swarmed Pakistan's High Commission for visas for the upcoming cricket series between the two nations.

Although Pakistan has promised to issue 8,000 visas for Indian sports lovers, the number of visa seekers is much more.

Hundreds of people lined up outside the diplomatic mission in New Delhi, which is otherwise a deserted place only patrolled by Indian sleuths.

Visas will be issued to Indian cricket fans who have bought cricket match tickets, which are available online.

India's cricket team is due to travel to Pakistan next Tuesday for a 39-day trip, the first by an Indian team in 15 years.

Indian Airlines will fly additional flights to Pakistan during the tournament. Additional buses will run between India and Pakistan to ferry the spectators.

The on-field clash between both cricketing mad nations transcends athletics and patriotism is at peak. Both teams will play five one-day matches and three test matches, which is five-day version of the game.
