DUBLIN, Ireland, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Three women and two men died Saturday and 17 were injured in a double decker bus accident in a central part of Dublin, Ireland.
Witnesses told the BBC the bus driver appeared to have lost control, with the vehicle running onto a sidewalk.

"Today's an appalling day," said bus company spokeswoman Grainne Mackin. "It's a tragic day for both Dublin Bus and the people involved in this accident."
Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and Ireland Transport Minister Seamus Brennan inspected the scene of the accident.
