DETROIT, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The Detroit trial of a man accused of murdering two and wounding three has ended with his lawyers blaming the defendant's use of Prozac.

A Wayne County jury in the trial of Christopher Bernaiche, 27, was expected to begin deliberating his fate Wednesday, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Bernaiche faces life in prison without the chance of parole if he is convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of assault with intent to murder.

There's little dispute that Bernaiche walked into Drinks Saloon on Dec. 27, 2002, and began shooting a .40-caliber handgun. He had been taking the anti-depressant Prozac.

"Christopher Bernaiche just wouldn't let it go, and that's how this whole incident happened -- needlessly," Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Stevens said during closing arguments Tuesday. "Somebody just wouldn't let it go. This is not about a drug; it is about a thug."

Charles Stull, 35, of Gibraltar and Douglas Kruszewski, 33, of Rockwood were killed. Steven Purdy, 25, of South Rockwood, Curtis Marcinkowski, 33, of Rockwood and Kristian Peters, 34, of New Boston were wounded.
