War criminal in Belgrade, prosecutor says

BELGRADE, Serbia, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Indicted war criminal Radovan Karadzic is living in Belgrade, international prosecutor Carla Del Ponte announced Wednesday.

And Del Ponte said another war criminal, Ratko Mladic, is also reportedly living in the Serbian capital. But because Serbia is not cooperating with the tribunal, Del Ponte said she has no idea how the two men will be arrested or extradited.

Del Ponte said an unidentified source told her last week Karadzic had fled to Belgrade after international peacekeepers tried to arrest him in Bosnia. Karadzic, a Bosnian Serb, is accused of masterminding the killing of hundreds of Bosnian Muslims in 1995 in the U.N.-declared "safe area" city of Srebrenica.
