Heart attacks blamed for most Hajj deaths

JAKARTA, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Committee said of the 291 Indonesians who died in this year's Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, 132 suffered heart attacks.

The Jakarta Post, citing data issued by the committee, said lung-related illnesses, the second major cause of death, claimed 61 lives.

The newspaper said this year's toll was one of the highest among Indonesian pilgrims as an estimated 205,000 Indonesian pilgrims visited Saudi Arabia during the Hajj period.

Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country.
