WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Former Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles has a narrow lead in the race for U.S. Senate according to a poll of 500 likely voters conducted in early February for KTTU-TV.
The Ivan Moore Research poll measured support for Knowles, a former Democratic governor, against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Green party candidate Jim Sykes.
Knowles lead the field with 45 percent followed by Murkowski at 41 percent and Sykes at 3 percent with "undecided" and "other" accounting for the rest.
According to Moore's analysis, Knowles is widening his lead, running ahead of Murkowski among seniors over 70, moderates and women.
"Lisa Murkowski has a big problem with moderate women, "Moore said," which is odd, because I think many observers would say she is one."
The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
