Bush to name McCain to intel panel

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- President Bush is expected to name Sen. John McCain to a panel investigating U.S. pre-Iraq war intelligence activities, two senators confirmed Thursday.

Sens. Richard Shelby, R-Ala. and Evan Bayh, D-Ind., appearing on the PBS program "News Hour," said McCain, R-Ariz., likely would be named by the president to the intelligence investigation commission.
