Afghan warlord sent home

KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- An outlaw Afghan warlord arrested last year in Pakistan was turned over Thursday to authorities in Afghanistan.

Badshah Khan Zadran, who fought alongside U.S. troops before allegedly turning against Afghan President Hamid Karzai, was arrested last November in Pakistan's tribal belt that borders Afghanistan, the BBC reported.

Fighters loyal to Zadran have reportedly been attacking government targets in the province of Paktia for two years.

A spokesman for President Karzai said Zadran would stand trial.

Pakistani officials refused comment on Zadran's capture.
