Slaying suspect attends victim's wake

GARY, Ind., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- One of three suspects in a quadruple Indiana homicide that claimed a toddler's life paid a condolence call to the child's family, police in Gary, Ind., say.

Investigators say the Jan. 17 killings were the result of a robbery gone bad, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Ronyale Hearne, mother of the child, Anthony, who was 19 days short of his second birthday, said Antonio D. Jones, 28, made the condolence call and also attended her son's wake and funeral.

Jones, Lenzo Aaron III, 23, and James W. Parks, 20, were charged with four counts of murder in the perpetration of a robbery, Gary Mayor Scott King said. Prosecutors could seek the death penalty, King said.

According to documents, Aaron confessed to police that he and his alleged accomplices set out to rob Anthony McClendon Sr., the father of the slain toddler. McClendon was killed as were a couple at the apartment, Jimmy and Laurice Jones, not believed related to the suspect.
