Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Two Democratic presidential contenders travel to Missouri Wednesday regardless of the outcome of Tuesday's first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary.
Winter weather not withstanding, Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina both plan to make their first campaign stops in St. Louis, the Post-Dispatch reported. Kerry has scheduled a rally on the campus of St. Louis Community College, where he is to pick up endorsements from former senators Jean Carnahan and Thomas Eagleton.
Edwards will make an address at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., and hold a meet-and-greet with voters in University City.
Rep. Richard Gephardt's withdrawal from the presidential race after a fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses has made the Feb. 3 Missouri primary competitive. Gephardt has not endorsed any of the remaining candidates vying for the nomination.
Howard Dean, Wesley Clark and Sen. Joe Lieberman are expected to work stops in Missouri into their campaign schedules later this week. The Missouri Democratic Party has invited all six candidates to a televised debate at the University of Missouri Monday night.
