Cliff rescue specialists had to rappel the 80-foot cliffs to recover the bodies.

"The bodies are in various stages of decomposition indicating that they may well have been in the water for varying lengths of time," a spokesman for the Sussex police said. "At this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances."

A spokesman for the coast guard said what appeared to be bags were found with the bodies that were discovered within 50 feet of each other.

A corner's inquiry is scheduled.
