Princess Diana inquest to begin

LONDON, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Royal family fans are gearing up for two inquests into the deaths of Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, Sky News reported Monday.

The two hearings will begin Tuesday at two different London venues, more than six years after the car crash in a Paris tunnel that also killed chauffeur Henri Paul.

To date, the only investigations have been conducted by the French courts, which concluded chauffeur Paul was on a cocktail of alcohol and prescription drugs and lost control because he was speeding.

Diana's personal bodyguard, Trevor Rees Jones, was the sole survivor of the crash on the short trip from the Ritz Hotel to Fayed's Paris apartment, but he has said he can recall little of what happened.

Fayed's father, Mohamed Al Fayed, is insistent the couple was murdered by the British Secret Service.

The royal family's coroner, Michael Burgess, said no witnesses will be called to give evidence in person at the hearings.
