Las Vegas says it wasn't terror target

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Officials in Las Vegas are disputing a media report that the city may have been targeted by terrorists.

The Washington Post reported Friday the gambling Mecca might have been the final fiery destination of the Air France flights that were canceled for security reasons this week, but Nevada officials said they were told that Los Angeles was the likely target.

Clark County Sheriff Bill Young told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he confirmed the fears about Los Angeles with FBI officials.

Los Angeles has been on high alert this week over fears of an attack on the city's main airport, however Las Vegas and all of its glitz are along the flight path the grounded Air France jets would have taken.
