SURREY, England, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Holiday season traffic has resulted in a fatal car and bus crash in England that killed one person and injured 51 others, the Guardian reported Wednesday.

The driver of a Land Rover was killed after striking a bus on a highway near Surrey, the newspaper said. Four of the injured, which included a number of children, are in serious condition.

British officials said they expect at least 18 million vehicles to be on the road before Christmas, an increase of 20 percent over daily averages.

Airports were also expected to become frantic. The British Airports Authority estimated 4 million people will fly out of Britain over the festive season, half of those from Heathrow.
