COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Federal, state and local officials Saturday went door to door for clues near a spate of Columbus, Ohio, shootings that killed one person.
"There are some people that will not pick up a phone and call you, but if you knock on a door and talk to them, they'll talk back to you," Chief Deputy Steve Martin of the Franklin County Sheriff's Department told CNN.
Authorities have received 2,494 leads, but Martin appealed for more, CNN said.
"No tip is too insignificant," he said, adding there were several "persons of interest."
Seven bullets have been linked including the one that killed Gail Knisley, 62, on Nov. 25 as she rode in a car on I-270. Investigators believe several other shootings are also connected.
There have not been any other injuries, but classes were cancelled in a Columbus school district Thursday after officials found dents made by bullets in two school buses.
