WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Democratic front-runner Howard Dean kicks off a vigorous campaign push Monday in February-voting primary states, campaign officials said Friday.
First up for an advertising drumbeat and get-out-the-vote organizing would be South Carolina and New Mexico.
Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi said similar pushes would begin soon in Arizona and Oklahoma. Delaware, North Dakota, Missouri and others would also get the Dean treatment.
"What we see going on is a further retreat by the other candidates in a one-state or two-state strategy," Trippi said in a teleconference. "We are continuing with our 50 state strategy."
Trippi said Dean's "sustained" media, door-knocking and telephone efforts beginning Monday would continue until primary voting.
"Make no mistake, we intend to win every one of these states," he said.
Dean, a former Vermont governor and physician, is currently leading the Democratic pack. Closest to him in opinion polls is former Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt.
