NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- People for the American Way announced in New York Friday it is extending its online celebrity auction for one week.
The auction began on Nov. 30, offering items from such celebrities as rapper 50 Cent, singer James Taylor and skateboard legend Tony Hawk.
"Due to an overwhelming response and dozens of added items," the organization said in a press release, "the auction has been extended for a second week."
Visitors to the group's Web site can bid on skateboard decks autographed by 50 Cent and Blink 182, an autographed CD box-set by Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Randy Newman, and a poster signed by Hawk. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst and singers Elvis Costello and Joan Jett have also contributed items.
The auction also offers Bon Jovi's Belgian gold record for "It's My Life," a guitar autographed by members of No Doubt and a script from the TV comedy "Fraiser," autographed by cast members.
People for the American Way was founded in 1981 by a group that included TV producer Norman Lear and former University of Notre Dame President Father Theodore Hesburgh.
